An overview of gifted education in Singapore:

-the government has recognized that gifted students need a higher degree of mental stimulation then their peers.

-they believe that their country will benefit if the needs of the gifted are met.

-these needs may not necessarily be met in the typical classroom.

-they have developed many different programs for gifted children including humanities, computers, leadership, science and math.

-their enrichment programs are designed to develop higher level thinking skills, experimental learning, problem solving skills, small group activities, support the study of real life situations, research skills and independent study.
