Play
Gifted children, like all children, love to play.
At an early age, they can be enjoying board games that are for older children. They memorize the rules easily, and learn the game well in no time.
They tend to be good at organizing and often try to invent games with their own set of rules.
Preschoolers like games that are repetitive. They learn a lot through games like the names of objects, colors, numbers, and shapes. At this age, they can interact side by side and not actually together.
Through games, children can use their imagination and are able to be whatever they like. They can get dirty by painting, using clay, or digging in the sand pile.
There is also a physical side to it through sports, jungle gyms, trampolines, etc.
This can help with coordination and fine and gross motor skills. They love to build things with blocks.
It starts with parents and helps children learn to trust, be fair and the idea of sharing.
At school, gifted children look for children that are at their level not necessarily their age. They often interact with older children because they feel they have more in common with them.
Gifted children like to have at least one really good friend. This gives them a sense of security and belonging. Since they are able to negotiate and reason well, they can have good friendships.
Children learn and use their imaginations through games. They learn about rules, sharing, being fair and just having fun.
