Creativity

Creativity usually involves using the imagination. This can include things like dancing, writing, music, building and inventing.

One of my daughter's fun things to do is invent. She tries to invent new things using cardboard, paper towel rolls, wire, rope, and glue, pretty much anything else she can think of.

She builds something, with a lot of imagination, then presents it and explains what everything is supposed to do. Her design stays on display for days, sometimes weeks.

The important thing when it comes to encouraging ingenuity in gifted children is to let them experiment, allow them to take lessons, encourage curiosity and questions. Make a point not to discourage or laugh at what they try to do.

Try to provide the necessary things they’ll need, like paper for writing, paint for painting, and instruments for music lessons.

Gifted children have a way of letting you know what they like and dislike. Always give them a choice because it ceases to be a fun thing when they're forced to do it.

Allow plenty of opportunity for exploration and using their imagination because that’s what childhood is all about.

My daughter really enjoys baking. She likes to try new things.

Now that summer is here, she will have more time to try out different recipes.
