The Waldorf Method

The Waldorf Method was developed by Rudolf Steiner. The first school opened in Germany in 1919.

The curriculum is as wide as possible and mixes academics with artistic and practical activities.

-Education is presented in a way that takes into account the child's developmental level.

-subjects are given through experience, with Art, Poetry, Drama included.

-the child is invited to create a "Main lesson book" for each subject.

-the teacher tries to evaluate and determine child's strengths and weaknesses over the many years they spend with the students.

-subjects may include woodworking, music, foreign languages, and the core subjects.

-teachers need to be trained properly in the method.
