About This Site

I am the mother of a wonderful 11 year old girl. She amazes me with her abilities and makes me laugh.

She is warm and caring and she is gifted.

After being told by a psychologist at age 7 that she is gifted, I set out on a journey to discover everything I possibly could about these children.

As I read through different web sites and books, I felt that a personal touch about life with a gifted child was missing.

This is why I created my site giftedjourney.

I am doing something I love, and I can work from home spending as many hours per day as I want.

I offer a lot of information on gifted children and wherever possible, add a personal touch.

I have a Bachelors Degree in Child Studies and enjoy writing.

I am learning a great deal and having fun doing it! I discover something new everyday.

One of the most important things I have learned so far on my journey is the need for parents to advocate for their children.

Sometimes this can be hard, but it is necessary. Only a parent truly knows and understands the needs of their child.

Another thing I discovered was that society's view of gifted children needs to change. It is generally thought that these kids are smart and don't need any help. This is not the case.

As you read through giftedjourney.com, you will see that I often mention how unfairly these kids can be treated in school. They need to be challenged and as parents or caregivers it is our job to make sure that this happens!

So for these reasons, and others, I have embarked on this giftedjourney for myself and my daughter. Thank you for joining us!
